Rehabilitation of sidewalks and construction of playgrounds in the Municipality of Kaesariani (project 215909 )

 

Interventions were made on the streets Iros Konstantopoulou, Lydias, Klazomenon, Moschonission, part of Iroon Polytechniou and small sections of Neas Ephesou, Odemisiou and Aretis streets, reconstruction of two playgrounds and construction of another. As can be seen from the photos, the "upgraded" sidewalks have an obstacles free pedestrian crossing width of less than 1.50 meters. No sidewalks widening were done for most of the project, but it was preferred that the available space be disposed for car parking. But even in the few cases where sidewalks were widened, it was mostly made in a way that, either did not improve accessibility (e.g. photo 12), or were immediately occupied by shops furniture (e.g. photo 13,18), cars (e.g. photo 29 - this item was left without obstacles that would prevent illegal parking), garbage bins (eg photo 28), or other obstacles. Pillars on the sidewalk were not moved, even in places that could improve accessibility (e.g. photo 2,4). The project is apparently unsuitable for use by people with disabilities.
